How to Style a Shelf Like a Designer

Begin with the big pieces
Anchor each shelf with one larger object—a stack of books, a sculptural vase, or a framed print leaning against the wall. Everything else builds around it.
Play with height and texture
Mix tall and low, glossy and matte, organic and graphic. A glazed bud vase next to a raw clay vessel creates a conversation your eye wants to follow.
Work in triangles
Group objects in threes and arrange them so their tops form a loose triangle. It's an old stylist's trick that makes any arrangement feel intentional.
Leave room to breathe
Negative space is part of the design. Edit until each piece has room to be seen—then remove one more thing.
